Review: Studies on HIV Transmission in Humanized Mice
Here I review studies on rectal and vaginal HIV transmission in humanized mice. They either
i) confirm my theory on sexual HIV transmission as relying on mucosal injury,
ii) do not provide an adequate model for human HIV transmission, or
iii) transfer preconceptions and uncorroborated assumptions about sexual transmission in humans to mice.
My theory on HIV transmission remains, so far, the best explanation. I also talk about the parallels between causation of peptic ulcer disease and causation of HIV transmission referring to William of Ockham's principle of parsimony in scientific theory formation.
