The recording of the network programmability stream which occurred on 2019/12/29 - part of 2-week stream marathon which started on 2019-12-23
During this marathon the plan is to stream almost every day.
My selected project for the first week is performance testing of different network automation tools: Ansible / Python + Nornir / Python + asyncio / Golang. I want to build a huge lab (1000 devices) and test how well these tools perform with the same tasks. This will be later summarized in a blog article.
On this stream I started exploring GNS3 API and wrote a Python application (using asyncio and httpx library) to use that API to add hundreds of network devices to the topology. It took much longer than I thought it would take but in the end we succeeded. Next, we need to add links and change startup configuration on the devices.
Timecode:
0:00 – Introduction/What has been done so far фтв and what needs to be done
12:22 – Making some changes in the lab (ubuntu/cisco ios)
18:30 – Exploring GNS3 API
... [WIP]
3:48:00 – Conclusions, summary and wrap-up
Please note that this content is stream-first and it is slow-paced by design. I recommend increasing playback speed in the player settings.
