Set up PostgreSQL 18 Streaming Replication on AlmaLinux 10 using physical replication.
🧭 Architecture Overview (what we’re building)
Primary (Master)
IP: 192.168.136.136
Role: Writes data
⇩ Streaming Replication ⇩
Secondary (Replica)
IP: 192.168.136.137
Role: Read-only copy
Replication method:
Streaming Replication
Password authentication
Replication user
Continuous WAL streaming
🚨 Important Notes (Beginner-Friendly)
❌ Do NOT write data on replica
✅ Replica is read-only
WAL files stream continuously
If replica goes down → it catches up automatically
🎉 You’re Done!
You now have:
✅ PostgreSQL 18 Primary
✅ Streaming Replica
✅ Password authentication
✅ Automatic WAL streaming
✅ Table creation replicated
✅ Data insertion replicated
✅ Replica is read-only
