Baseball is the preposterous manifestation of our grandest delusions, embodied in heroic, miraculous acts of one for the benefit of many. As a boy I idolized a Hall of Fame lefty who wore #5. I was that boy again, with 2 outs, bases loaded, in the bottom of the 10th of Game 1 of the 2024 World Series.
