2005 Ford Crown Victoria - Replace Upper Control Arms.
The bushings on the front upper control arms have gone bad after 200,000 miles on this Crown Vic Police Intercept.
Replacement parts were obtained online at a reasonable cost. the replacement had the new bushings and the ball joint already pressed into place.
Replacement was pretty straight forward.
When removing the second control arm, the nylock on the ball joint gave us q lot of trouble. We broke a 6 mm hex and a 1/4 wrench. Eventually we used large channel locks to hold the ball joint while removing the nut. What took 15 minutes on the driver's side took 1 hour on the passenger side.
All in all it was an afternoon's work and now the car is safer and and a lot less noisy.
