In this video: Sharon Davis dances the Al & Leon Shim Sham (aka the Savoy Shim Sham), as featured in Mura Dehn's documentary "The Spirit Moves" (Part 2). In The Spirit Moves footage, shot in the Savoy Ballroom in the early 1950s, Albert 'Al' Minns and Leon James lead other Savoy Ballroom dancers in this routine. You can also see Al Minns and Leon James demonstrate part of this routine on the Johnny Carson Show with dance historian Marshall Stearns narrating, in the early 1960s.
