This tutorial video goes over the code that allows the user object to pick up the gems within our game. We look at the function OnTriggerEnter, and, using the tag feature in unity, we go over how the player object can differentiate colliding with a gem versus anything else. We also look at logging the player’s score to the console log. This particular video is the second video in a two part series, the first being “Unity 3D Game Beginner Tutorial #5: Consumables”. It is highly recommended that video be viewed first.

This video takes notes from the following tutorial provided by Unity themselves. Watching the Unity tutorial video is not necessary, but I felt it would be a good resource since this is where I first learned of the static object caching that I describe in my video.
