I saw an interesting solution for making a watering bowl in Finland. It's nice to see a simple and useful device used by beekeepers. #SimpleSolutions. We come up with jars, pieces of wood with notches... but nature already has everything. A simple solution that pleases the mind and can be useful for many. The watering bowls don't need to be washed, and the water will remain naturally clean.
Sphagnum is a bog moss that absorbs water throughout its entire body. Sphagnum contains carbolic acid, an antiseptic that kills bacteria. Because of this, the moss hardly rots and forms peat (1-2 mm per year).
Some people consider sphagnum a suitable material for warm diapers, which they use to cover their children in winter.
In medicine and veterinary medicine, sphagnum has been used as a dressing material in the form of sphagnum-gauze pads. Due to its bactericidal properties and ability to absorb large amounts of liquid, it was used by doctors as a dressing material on battlefields during wars.
