How to make natural essential oil at home
I obtained 27 ml of essential oil from 3.2 kg of bay leaves. The leaves weren't quite fresh, so the yield could have been higher. It's realistic to get 10 ml from 1 kg. You need to add enough water to the still to avoid the situation shown in this video. Keep in mind that leaves absorb quite a lot of water: 3.2 kg absorbed more than 1 liter of water, causing the bottom of the pot to burn. Initially, I tried to find the minimum amount of water to increase the vapor zone and speed up the heating process, but 2.5 liters turned out to be woefully insufficient. The minimum required was 3.5 liters.
The optimal option for a 25-liter still:
Bay leaves - 3 kg
Water - 5 liters
Extraction - 2 liters (enough for complete extraction of essential oil)
Result - 25-30 ml of natural essential oil
