Free? Yes, for free. Watch this video and let me show you how.
By the making of this video the chapter markers are already old news, because YT introduced this 3 month ago.
Nevertheless, i saw people selling an app for this for $10, and even though i don't mind to pay $10 for this, i think free is much better than $10.
The way how this works is that you create a list with time stamps and descriptions in the description section of your video.
That looks like this here:
00:00:00 Intro
00:00:46 How YouTube adds those chapter markers
00:01:13 How to add the markers manually
00:01:41 How to create markers with Final Cut Pro X
00:02:31 Adding a marker in FCPX
00:03:13 Setting a marker with option-m
00:04:05 How to edit a marker
00:04:34 Exporting the markers
00:05:52 Downloading free software from the internet
00:06:44 Getting the code
00:07:22 Extracting the software
00:07:47 Installing the software on your Mac
00:08:19 Using the software for the very first time
00:09:55 Inserting the text into YouTubes description

And then the question arises:
Can you not export something like this from FCPX?
And the answer is:
Yes, you can. (Just watch this video!)
You're welcome, and enjoy!
