The Second Conquest March in Honor of Hagia Sophia
The second conquest of Istanbul dawns on us this day,
It is the day for Hagia Sophia to rejoice,
To free the spirit of conquest, which emerged in April,
And which now rains on us with a downpour.
Truly, conquest is the call to which all muslims rally,
Conquest is the heart’s blossom, a prosperity for all.
Hagia Sophia, Fatih’s grand gift,
On this day, takes back its spirit.
Let the dome above tremble, let the endless skies ring
With the echoes of adhan so all harkens to it.
Let tears stream down unyielding, unabated
To mark this as the day the longing ends in reunion.
Hagia Sophia now awaits Fatih,
While, as pillars beneath the sky, ulama and awliya stand.
Prayers in the hearts are the bearers of glad tidings,
Today is the day faith burns as a bright candle.
Ask Tursun Beg, let his chronicles speak.
Lend an ear to the great master Akshamsaddin.
Let the Hill of Martyrs show you all,
Today, Üsküdar witnesses the conquest.
This blessed message lies in Eyübsultan,
A fragrance unlike any other lingers over Fatih’s tomb.
Mothers send their sons off as in the days of yore,
Today, the winds favor the conquest once more.
It is the day for Hagia Sophia to celebrate,
And for the angels to soar,
It is the day for Hagia Sophia to rejoice.
It is the day the lovers of Allah have been waiting for.
