In BRI-D10, we are joined by Maria Adele Carrai, an Assistant Professor of Global China Studies at NYU Shanghai. Dr Carrai’s research explores the history of international law in East Asia and investigates how China’s rise as a global power is shaping norms and redefining the international distribution of power.
Maria addresses several crucial topics, including: the relationship between private enterprises and the BRI; a comparison between the BRI and the B3W, despite the latter’s infancy; and the importance of scholarship and fact-finding when seeking to understand China. Dr Carrai reminds viewers of the importance of collaboration with Beijing built on a balanced view of China in the modern world.
The BRI Dialogues provide support and insights for senior executives and decision makers in both private and public sectors, on China and its BRI programme of activities. Our overriding aim is to establish a clearer appreciation of how to ‘COPE’ in China.
