In February 2021, the DLG published two test reports for the Precea 4500-2CC Super precision seed drill and the PreTeC sowing unit. The Precea series is the latest generation of high-speed precision seed drills from AMAZONE. The narrowest type is available in 3 m working width with four to six sowing units. A new addition to the product family is the 6 m machine, rigid or folded, with up to twelve separating units that can be freely moved on the support frame. The Precea 4500-2CC Super precision seeder with a working width of 4.5 m and a PreTeC sowing unit, which is attached in 3-point, has now been examined in field and laboratory tests with regard to working quality including lateral fertilizer distribution when sowing maize. The Precea and the PreTeC sowing unit were convincing in all test criteria specified in the DLG test framework and received the “DLG APPROVED” certificate.

The results of the field tests that the PreTeC seed coulter and the entire Precea 4500-2CC Super have achieved are impressive. The test mark "DLG-APPROVED" confirms the field emergence with "very good" in all nine test variants. Depending on the maize variety, the DLG examination committee evaluates the accuracy of the position as eight times "very good" and once "good", even at high working speeds. Three seeds and different amounts of fertilizer were placed very precisely at different speeds using the PreTeC coulter.

In the laboratory test, the placement accuracy and grain distribution of the maize kernels were determined. The evaluation of the double or missing spots was classified nine times with the best result “very low”. The lateral fertilizer distribution also only scored “very good”.

The tested Precea 4500-2CC Super has six PreTeC coulters with singling units and seed tanks of 55 l each and is equipped with a mineral fertilizer tank of 1,250 l for under-root fertilization. The fertilizer is deposited in the soil via the FerTeC double disc fertilizer coulter.

In a separate test, the DLG has also confirmed the perfect seed placement and uniform field emergence for the PreTeC sowing unit with the test mark "DLG APPROVED". With the PreTeC unit, the complete seed singulation takes place via overpressure. The seed is pressed against the singling disc by compressed air. Three scraper rollers ensure exact separation on the perforated disc. The electrically driven singling disc rotates depending on the driving speed and conveys the seed to the firing channel. At this point, the hole on the disc is covered by a hole-covering roller, thus interrupting the contact pressure of the seed. As a result, the grains leave the singling disc and are shot precisely into the seed furrow. In the meantime, the grains pass the optical transmitter, which monitors the seed singling and reports it to the ISOBUS software. At the end of the firing channel, the seed is stopped by the catch roller and pressed into the ground. For this purpose, the soil is opened up beforehand with two cutting discs and reconsolidated and well shaped by the furrow former installed at the end of the firing channel.

The DLG has been testing and certifying agricultural technology and operating resources for over 130 years. With its tests in the areas of vehicle technology, internal and external trade as well as operating resources, forestry, municipal and garden technology, the DLG test center is one of the leading international testing and certification organizations.
