Peugeot 308 SW | The diesel is a real surprise! (23 km/l and excellent build quality)
After testing the plug-in hybrid version of the 308 SW, it's time to try the most tempting version for "mileage" drivers: the 1.5L 130-horsepower diesel engine paired with the AT8 automatic transmission. A truly efficient engine, it reaches 25 km/l with some caution and travels around 20 km/l in almost all driving conditions.
The Peugeot 308 SW is a compact wagon based on the new-generation 308. At 4.60 meters long, it comfortably accommodates five people with plenty of luggage. The heart of the new PEUGEOT 308 SW design is its spaciousness for passengers, achieved thanks to a length of 4.64 meters and a wheelbase of 2.73 meters. These figures are accompanied by a new concept of efficiency, as demonstrated by the aerodynamic optimization demonstrated by a Cd of 0.277 and a drag coefficient (SCd) of 0.618 m, values that reduce CO₂ emissions and fuel consumption.
As with the 5-door model, the dashboard of the New 308 SW reflects the evolution of the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit, now taken to a new level in terms of ergonomics and technology, thanks to the three-dimensional instrument panel and the new PEUGEOT i-Connect infotainment system.
The large center console offers space for the driver and front passenger's everyday items, supporting the concept of modularity that is best expressed in the rear of the vehicle. Thanks to the rear bench seat that can be split into three sections (40/20/40) and folding controls operated directly from the trunk, the 608 liters of luggage space can quickly expand to 1,634 liters with the rear bench seat fully folded.
The engine range is diverse and comprehensive, offering a choice that includes the fuel-efficient 1.5-liter BlueHDi 130 hp diesel engine tested, the efficiency of the 1.2-liter PureTech turbocharged gasoline engine with 110 or 130 hp, and the EAT8 automatic transmission available for both the 130 hp and diesel engines, as well as the PHEV plug-in hybrid version with 180 or 225 hp and a range of over 60 km.
