Whether it's Posteo, Gmail, or GMX: most email providers don't offer end-to-end encryption by default. This means that your email provider, and therefore also government agencies or—in the event of a data breach—the entire internet, theoretically have access to all your messages. That's why it makes sense to encrypt your emails. In practice, this can be done with either OpenPGP or S/MIME.

In our second advanced video, I'll show you step-by-step how to use S/MIME for free to encrypt your private emails. Furthermore, this method digitally signs all your outgoing emails with S/MIME, which gives you a "verified" email badge in many email clients.
