Paco de Lucía is a Spanish guitarist and composer in his real name, Francisco Sanchez Gomez (born December 21, 1947, Spain - February 26, 2014, Cancún, Mexico). It is considered to be one of the most important guitarists of flamenco music. Lucía has also produced works in the fields of jazz, funk, classical music and local music. As the youngest of five brothers, she was born in Algeciras, in the southern tip of Spain, in the province of Cádiz. He came from a family of musicians: his father was flamenco guitarist Antonio Sánchez, one of his brothers was flamenco singer Pepe de Lucía, and the other was flamenco guitarist Ramón de Algeciras. Paco de Lucía was named in honor of his Portuguese mother Lucía Gomes. In 1958, he appeared on the radio for the first time at the age of eleven (Radio Algeciras). A year later, he received a special award at the prestigious Jerez flamenco competition. In 1961, he toured with the flamenco group of dancer José Greco, participated in concerts in various countries. He met guitarist Sabicas, a musician who influenced him in New York.
After returning to Spain, he moved to Madrid with his family in 1964. He recorded three albums with Madrilenian guitarist Ricardo Modrego: Dos guitarras flamencas, Dos guitarras flamencas en stereo, and Doce canciones de Federico García Lorca para guitarra. In 1966, he recorded three albums with his brother Ramon. In 1967, he released his first solo album: La Fabulosa Guitarra de Paco de Lucía. Between 1968 and 1977, he collaborated productively with his New Flamenco musician Camarón de la Isla (Camaron). The two filled ten albums together.

A picture showing Paco de Lucía (right) and Camarón de la Isla (Camaron) De Lucía started to be interested in jazz fusion since the late 1970s. This style, which Al DiMeola reflects on the Elegant Gypsy album in 1977, did not cause the reaction of pure flamencoists.

In 1979, De Lucía founded the Guitar Trio with John McLaughlin and Larry Coryell and went on a short European tour to record a video called The Meeting of the Spirits at Royal Albert Hall in London. Later on, Al Di Meola replaced Coryell. Since 1981, this trio has recorded three albums. Her own band, including De Lucía's brothers Ramón and Pepe, Paco de Lucía Sekstet released the first of three albums to be released in the same year. De Lucía released various albums in her own traditional and modern flamenco styles. With his wide repertoire, he created a new understanding of flamenco, exceeding the technical and musical limits of the guitar. On March 23, 2007, Cadiz University rewarded the musical and cultural contributions of de Lucía by giving him an honorary doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa).

De Lucía is considered to be a master of rasgueado and picado, he can use the classical guitar extremely fast. De Lucía later stated that in interpreting the Concierto he gave importance to rhythmic accuracy by sacrificing the tonal loyalty that classical guitarists care about.

In addition, the song called "Tuana", written by Levent Yüksel and written by Sezen Aksu, is a composition of Paco de Lucia.Paco de Lucía died at the age of 66 as a result of a heart attack while playing with her children on the beach on February 26, 2014.
