RLC (Radio Link Control) is a layer in the WCDMA protocol stack that provides data transfer services between the RLC entity in the mobile station (MS) and the RLC entity in the radio network controller (RNC).
The RLC layer ensures reliable and efficient data transfer between the MS and the RNC. It uses segmentation and reassembly techniques to break large data packets into smaller segments, which are then transmitted over the air interface. The RLC layer also provides flow control mechanisms to prevent data overflow and underflow, and error correction mechanisms to ensure data integrity.
