#ad Behind-the-scenes of my recent holiday @LEGO work 😃 I think I’ve been using this classic barrel rolling technique for more than a decade now. Perfect for creating a cozy loop. Fairly simple to time things out - I’ll take the circumference of the barrel and divide it by the total frames of the video. Then I’ll mark all those spaces on one end and use a gauge to keep track of the barrel rotation on each frame.
I had the sleigh rigged from behind the barrel on a vertical winder so that I could slightly adjust it with swell of the landscape. The rig was visible under the sleigh, but I didn’t want to deal with removing it in post-production, so I simply covered it with a blue brick and you can hardly notice it. Other than that, fairly straight forward animation on everything else! Oh, and it was originally animated at 12fps but we found it a bit slow, so I ramped up the speed 1.25x to 15fps for the final video.
