In this Minecraft mod, which I am calling "Omnichunk", any changes we make to one chunk apply to ALL chunks. So, if we build a tower, that tower gets replicated EVERYWHERE; if we dig a tunnel through one chunk, that tunnel will extend to infinity!
Unfortunately we started running into a lot of lag by the end, but we have since investigated and resolved the issue.
