Trump Rushed Off Stage at Pennsylvania Rally Amid Gunshot Fears: An Incident Under Investigation
Former President Donald Trump was abruptly escorted off stage just minutes into his rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday following loud noises resembling gunshots. Trump, who had blood on the side of his head and ear, is currently safe and expected to survive, according to senior law enforcement officials.
The chaos erupted when Trump was speaking and reached for the side of his face as popping sounds echoed through the rally. Secret Service agents swiftly surrounded him and escorted him off the stage into a waiting vehicle. Reporters present described seeing smoke and initially mistaking the sounds for fireworks, leading to widespread panic and screams from the audience.
A Secret Service spokesperson confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that Trump is safe and that the incident is now an active investigation. Anthony Guglielmi, an agency spokesperson, stated, "Further information will be released when available."
Trump's spokesperson, Steven Cheung, expressed gratitude towards law enforcement and first responders for their swift action, stating, "He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow."
The current status of any suspect remains unclear.
President Joe Biden, who was briefed on the situation while in Delaware, has his campaign team monitoring the developments closely, according to a senior White House official.
