However, the other key reason to consider down-sizing is for considering a home which will allow you to age-in-place from a sudden lack of mobility perspective. Most aging-in-place homeowners never consider whether the family home with all their remodeling expense will accommodate you should someone lose mobility. In most cases, the family home simply is not set-up for the aging population to age-in-place when a wheel chair is required. Do you have internal stairs? Is the shower set-up to accommodate a wheel chair? You need to determine what is the right home decision now before the loss of mobility happens.
