Gigafactory Texas on 23 March 2022! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!
Another great day to fly at Giga Texas and so much going on both today, and in the last 48 hours! It is truly awesome to see! Although there was a lot of action all over the site today, the big news is seeing several transport semi-trucks loaded up with Model Y’s and departing Giga Texas.
In the intro, we discuss several major developments for both Tesla and Giga Texas in the past 48 hours, including the sighting of a Giga Texas-built Model Y out and about at a Supercharger nearby, and we can clearly see the VIN with the “A” for Austin (instead of “F” for Fremont). We also discuss the approval of the Travis County office for Giga Fest, clearing the way for a large public ceremony and event coming up on 7 April, and we discuss the grand opening and first customer car deliveries at Giga Berlin on the 22nd of March.

Some additional highlights from around the site:
We start off on the far southwest corner, looking at the intersection with highway 973 and then survey the hills and ponds area, noting earthwork is underway again in a few locations. More importantly, we note the road median is now planted with many trees and shrubs, and along the shoulders, large areas with drilled holes waiting to plant a small forest of trees that will line the entire roadway from west to the south bridge area!
I do a lengthy flight over the growing solar panel installation area, and we see crews doing early morning calisthenics before getting to work for what is surely a busy day ahead.
The west main entrance area now has a very large rectangular raised area level with the front doors, and crews are now building steps on the western edge. This gives a nice and large level area around the doors for people to gather before heading inside.
On the south end, we see windows being installed on the southwest angled corner of the General Assembly structure, the Supercharger station is now completed and in use, and a large number of Model Y’s parked on the south apron area.
Also on the south end, near the stamping machine structure, we see several transport semi-trucks loaded up with Model Y’s and then transporting them off-site. This is the first such example of this I have seen, so likely another milestone moment for Giga Texas!
On the northern battery cell roof area, we see crews hard at work pressure washing and scrubbing the roof to remove a lot of the brown dust and grime on the white liner material. They appear to have already complete one large section and have started another.
The north Tesla Road area continues to see median and berm work to prepare the area for the upcoming Giga Fest in just two weeks, and now we see large numbers of plants arranged and being installed all along this area. Overall, this main entry area is looking much more completed and should be ready for Giga Fest by the end of next week at the rate the crews are working.
The north parking lot area is also getting final touches, preparing to pave over the last remaining sections where trailers were located and restoring the paved roadway surface.
On the east parking lot area, we see the center roadway nearing completion and the last major area needing paving (near the supercharger station) is almost completed as well. A bit further south, near the sedimentation basin, work has progressed on the parking area.
Farther east, we see crews cutting up old concrete wall panels into “Cyber Planters” similar to the one we fist say on the west side of the building two weeks ago. It looks like many these “Cyber Planters” are being made and just in time since many of the plants that will be in then have arrived on site.
