The Outline Plan for Netanya 2035
The plan is the fruit of the initiative and vision of the mayor, Miriam Feierberg-Ikar, and it lays down the principles and trends for the city's planning processes in the coming decades. The plan includes 16 policy documents, which formed the basis for the preparation of the outline plan, the preparation of which took about 7 years, in cooperation and full coordination with government ministries and planning institutions.
The vision of the plan is to strengthen Netanya's status as a resort city, offering quality of life alongside environmental protection, while leading in the social, educational, cultural and economic fields.
As part of the outline plan, the city's population, which currently numbers about 240 thousand residents, will increase to about 350 thousand residents, while the number of housing units, which currently stands at about 70 thousand units, will increase according to the plan to about 110 thousand units. This is with an almost twofold increase in the percentage of construction.
The employment sector will also see significant growth, with the doubling of employment areas, which currently number about 3 million square meters according to approved plans, to about 6 million square meters of employment by 2045, and in an intermediate stage (2035) to over 4 million square meters.
In addition, the plan provides clear guidelines on urban design and increases the areas designated for public institutions to about 2,800 dunams. It also defines the manner in which 7,000 hotel rooms will be laid out, while expanding the beaches and creating attractions along them that are appropriate for the city of Netanya, which is the Israeli Riviera.
The plan also proposes to increase the open areas in the city by more than 500 dunams, for the benefit of the public, in addition to the open areas with which the city is blessed, which also include 4 nature reserves.
