What did I learn from this experiment?
Firstly, I'm not saying that all inexpensive sauces are bad. Perhaps the producers really do make them the traditional way. I'm simply sharing my impressions from tasting them.
Secondly, about the price. Yes, 4,000 rubles a bottle seems crazy. That price includes delivery through intermediaries from the States via Amazon. In Japan itself, it costs around 1,000 rubles.
But a souvenir from a friend straight from Japan is priceless!
And most importantly, expensive doesn't mean better. I misidentified the Japanese sauce, confusing it with Chinese haday light soy sauce.
And I also realized that high-quality soy sauce is like fine wine. You can treat yourself to something special once a year.
