Webflow user roles got a major update in 2026, and your role decides what you can do on your site.

In this video you'll learn what's changed, what each of the three new Webflow roles can do, and how to fix it if you've been assigned the wrong one.

Webflow used to give every client the same editing experience. One tool, one interface. Now it's a role-based system, with three distinct roles built around the job you actually do:

Content Editor: update text, swap images, manage blog posts and CMS items, edit SEO and alt text. Works inside the main Webflow interface, not a separate editor overlay.
Marketer: build and edit full pages using pre-built components and templates. Move sections, add blocks, change layouts. No code, but real creative control.
Reviewer: view the site and leave comments. Built for stakeholders and approvers who need visibility without the risk of changing anything.

Your role is assigned to you, either automatically during migration or by whoever manages your site. If it doesn't match what you actually need to do, the site manager can switch you over in seconds.
