In this project we are going to be building an outdoor table using concrete and a single pour process. That means we're going to be pouring the table top as well as sculpting and forming the table base at the same time. Doing this is going to give us a couple of benefits. One of the benefits of this process is that we are going to cast the table top upside down. This technique allows for a very interesting finish on the top of the table. This applies to both the coloration as well as the very smooth texture that you are able to achieve when using this process. Unique to this application we are also going to be sculpting a base for this table top out of artificial rock.
Artificial rock is a thin concrete veneer which you texture and paint to resemble actual stone. This will produce a relatively lightweight yet strong table base to support the table top. This process will involve multiple different steps and materials so this long form tutorial is going to be broken down into multiple parts to show you every stage of the construction process. It is important to note that something like this is just one example and you are free to adjust or change the design as you see fit to make something that you want to build.
