Abilities in runescape fall into three separate categories. Basics, Thresholds and Ultimate.
Basic abilities give the player 8% more adrenaline and does not have any adrenaline requirements
Threshold abilities cost 15% adrenaline to use and requires you to have 50% adrenaline before activating
Ultimate abilities cost 100% adrenaline to use and requires you to also have 100% adrenaline before activating
Ultimate abilities are almost never worth using unless they are a damage boosting ultimate, thresholds will be a majority of your DPS, while basics are all about gaining adrenaline while still dealing moderate damage
