FMT Conversation with Joey Lye Unlocking Your Inner Confidence
As an athlete, do you ever find yourself losing confidence, doubting yourself, and thinking you can't do something? Then this Find My Team Conversation is for you!
Introducing Joey Lye, a former high school student athlete, college athlete, All American, and Olympian.
Throughout high school, Joey represented the Birchmount Exceptional Athlete Program in Scarborough on the ice, the ball field, the soccer pitch, and the field hockey field while also competing on competitive travel softball and hockey teams. She also managed to squeeze in a little goaltending with a local house league hockey team.
When the time arrived to pursue college athletics, Joey could not select just one sport. Instead, she searched high and low for a school, and coaches, who would allow her to play two sports while she received a quality education.
Joey was accepted to a top-ranked liberal arts school called Williams College, a Division III institution located in Williamstown, Massachusetts from where Joey achieved a degree in Psychology and then pursued a graduate degree from Concordia University, Irvine through which she achieved a Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration. Most recently, Joey has completed her Mental Performance Mastery certification.
As a Williams College Eph (rhymes with beef), Joey broke numerous school records on the softball field, including single season batting average, hitting .563 to lead the nation her senior season. An all-American on the field and all-conference on the ice, Joey co-captained the Eph hockey squad her senior year.
Following her collegiate graduation, Joey tried out for Team Canada Softball and made it to the final selection camp where she was one of the last cuts. After working hard to improve in the off-season, Joey made the team in 2010, was captain from 2013-2017, and rounded out her twelve year career by returning from Tokyo with an Olympic Bronze medal.
