This is for the ‘Stronger Than Ever Contest’ by hunterx. For this contest we had to choose a topic/problem that isn’t much talked about.
I wanted to do something about society’s expectations and how we all feel the pressure to just try to fit in. We are all expected to follow the same path in life: Study hard, get a degree, find a good and steady job, get married, have kids… There is nothing wrong with wanting that but it makes a lot of people with different aspirations in life feel left out. The pressure can lead to you living a lie or drepression and in some way I think everyone feels like they don't fit in. But not everyone understands that sometimes you just don’t want to have everything planned out and you like to live the adventure. We are often so foccused on the future that we forget that we are living our lives right now as well and that we should make the best of it.
For me personally, I am living a dream right now but fear of the future sometimes lets me forget to enjoy it. I am probably not someone that is made to just settle down, or at least not in the near future, and I’m curious to where life will bring me. I never know what to answer when people ask me what I will do if this dream of mine doesn’t work out. I’m always left thinking that the road leads to somewhere and I don’t know just yet where that will be.
About two weeks ago I heard this song for the first time and I was blown away by the meaningfull lyrics. I feel like they explain the message I want to send with this video by themself. It gave me this idea and I was very excited to work on it. To add an extra layer to it as gay woman, I was inspired by the lyric ‘Love without a fear in your heart’ and I felt like it related to the topic defying socities expectations.
I didn’t want it to be a dark video so I guess this is and ode to living in the now and pride for the outcast :D
