#74 With Anika Landsteiner: Turning Female Shame Into Rage | Podcast with Ildikó von Kürthy
My conversation partner today is Anika Landsteiner. Our topic: shame. Anika says that shame is the default mode, the standard setting for women. Why is that? Why do we constantly feel ashamed? Why are we ashamed of our bodies? Why are we ashamed when we have no money or when we earn a lot of money? Why are we ashamed of feeling ashamed? She describes all of this very openly in her new book, "Sorry Not Sorry." And she speaks just as openly about all of this during our meeting. About the connection between shame and patriarchy, about sex, beauty, and power. She talks about her shame and her anger. She says: "Feeling ashamed has repeatedly held me back in life, made me insecure, offended me, hurt me, exposed me. But nothing gives you more power than anger, ignited at the right time and in the right place." I wish you many angry insights.
