Materials Used:
ColorBox® Archival Dye ink pads: Fireberry & Wicked Black
ColorBox® Art Dauber 6-pack
ColorBox® Stylus Handle 3-pack
ColorBox® Stylus Tips 3-pack
Top Boss® embossing powder: Clear
Heat Tool
Nonstick heat resistant mat
Nashua self-adhesive Aluminum Tape (found at home improvement/hardware stores)
1-1/2” diameter Metal Washer (found at home improvement/hardware stores)
Manual die cut machine & Embossing folder of your choice
Bamboo chopsticks or skewers
Scissors
Pencil and easer top
1. Using the die cut machine of your choice and embossing folder, dry emboss the aluminum tape.
2. Place washer on wrong side of embossed Aluminum tape scrap. Trace around shape with pencil, marking edges and center hole. Cut out, remember to cut out hole in center.
3. Trace and cut out a second piece, cutting slightly larger than the first piece. Draw an “x” in the center of the hole and cut along the “x” lines. Remove backing and carefully attach this piece to one side of the washer. Curve hole sections around edges and burnish.
4. Carefully position and attach the remaining shape to the second side of the washer. Burnish cut edges so they feel smooth to the touch.
5. Holding the Fireberry inkpad in your hand, apply ink directly to the washer. Blend edges using the Art Dauber or Stylus. Apply clear embossing powder immediately to the inked washer; shake off excess and place onto a heat resistant nonstick mat. Heat until powder melts.
*Warning. The heat embossing process will make the washer VERY hot. Do NOT hold or touch washer during or after this step for 3-5 minutes! Use the wood chopsticks or wood skewers to move or hold in place during the heating process.*
6. For more intense color, repeat step 4, again allowing adequate cool down time before handling. OPTIONAL: If desired, repeat step 4 on the reverse side, holding the washer on the skewer or chopstick to heat and cool down.
7. Add Wicked Black color to edges of the washer with the Stylus or Art Dauber. Heat emboss.
