Google Pixel Watch 5 : New 45mm Option, Gemini AI On-Device & 3,000 nits Brightness
Google’s Pixel Watch 5 arrives with two sizes (41mm and 45mm) and big updates under the hood. It runs Wear OS 7 with integrated Gemini on-device AI for faster, offline-first assistant tasks (Raise to Talk). Hardware highlights include the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated CPU plus a Cortex‑M55 co-processor, 50% more RAM (about 20% faster performance), 64GB storage, Gen 3 Premium haptics, NFC, mic and speaker, and custom 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on a recycled-aluminum case.
The LTPO AMOLED display adapts from 1–60Hz, offers an extreme 3,000 nits peak brightness for outdoor visibility and 1 nit minimum for Always-On Display. Battery sizes: 332mAh (41mm) up to ~30 hours AOD on, and 465mAh (45mm) up to ~40 hours; both charge to 50% in ~15 minutes. Health and fitness features include ECG (AFib detection), SpO2, HRV, new body-response stress cues, dual-frequency GPS with 3D building models and local weather assistance, plus upcoming software adds (Sept 2026) for blood-pressure trends and insulin-resistance monitoring. A Breathing Emergency Detection feature will launch first in Europe.
Pricing and availability: Pre-orders open now; on shelves Aug 20. US pricing: 41mm $399 (Wi‑Fi) / $499 (LTE); 45mm $429 (Wi‑Fi) / $529 (LTE).
