Injured fox rescued from Orange County wildfire is released back into the wild!
After nearly five months of care at our Ramona Wildlife Center, a gray fox who survived the Airport Fire in Orange County is back where he belongs in the wild! With severe tissue trauma, his road to recovery wasn't easy — he needed daily treatment from our Project Wildlife medical team just to have a chance at survival. Every step of the way, our team evaluated his health and behavior to make sure he could thrive in the wild. As he neared the end of his recovery, the fox moved from our indoor hospital to an outdoor enclosure. With remote trail cameras, our team watched as he became stronger and more agile each day — skillfully climbing and jumping through his habitat. That was the moment we knew: he was ready to return home!
