What’s going on with the Sun right now?
In this video, we break down a series of powerful solar events captured over a single solar rotation — including:
Two incoming comets
Two major X-class solar flares
Multiple massive coronal mass ejections (CMEs)
All happening within days of each other.
🌞 What you’re seeing:
Using real SOHO LASCO C3 coronagraph imagery, we track:
📅 April 2 – A massive CME erupts from the Sun
📅 April 3–4 – Comet C/2026 A1 (MAPS) approaches and disintegrates near perihelion
📅 April 23 – Two CMEs occur alongside Comet C/2025 R3 (Pan-STARRS)
📅 April 24–25 – Additional large CME eruptions
📅 April 26 – Comet Pan-STARRS continues its approach
📏 Scale matters:
The field of view in these images spans over 40 million kilometers
For comparison:
The Sun’s diameter is ~1.4 million km
These eruptions extend tens of times larger than the Sun itself
⚠️ Important context:
There is currently no confirmed scientific link between comet activity and solar eruptions.
However, seeing:
Multiple CMEs
X-class flares
And comet interactions
…all within one solar rotation raises interesting questions — especially as we approach Solar Cycle 25 maximum.
