Two months after the launch of Plan Bandera, Minister Bullrich provided details of the results achieved, reaffirming the commitment to ensuring the safety of all Argentinians.
Patricia Bullrich: “Homicides committed in public spaces in Rosario have decreased by 57% in these two months.”
The Minister of Security, Dr. Patricia Bullrich, accompanied by the Secretary of Security, Vicente Ventura Barreiro, the Secretary for the Fight Against Drug Trafficking, Martín Verrier, and the Undersecretary for Federal Intervention, Federico Angelini, presented the results obtained after two months of implementation of Plan Bandera, which was launched on January 2nd in the city of Rosario.
In a continued effort to combat drug trafficking, narco-terrorism, and strengthen security in the province, Minister Bullrich reaffirmed the national government's commitment to the residents of Rosario, acknowledging the urgent need to address the delicate situation facing the region.
During the presentation, Bullrich highlighted the work done to date, stating: “We have addressed the situation with professionalism and seriousness, and from the moment we took office, we set out to bring peace of mind to all Argentinians, and in this specific case, to the citizens of Santa Fe.”
The Minister highlighted the impressive results achieved two months after deploying federal forces to the streets of Santa Fe under the implemented plan. She stated, “The four years prior to our administration left the province with a very high homicide rate, the highest in the entire country. Today, we can say that the reduction in homicides, shootings, and incidents of violence in the city of Rosario is truly remarkable. We have achieved a 57% decrease in crimes and homicides committed in public spaces compared to the same period in 2023.”
As the Minister stated, the report presented today by the Undersecretariat of Federal Intervention reflects a significant decrease in homicide rates in Rosario and surrounding areas compared to 2023.
Specifically, a 47.83% reduction was recorded in Rosario and a 36.36% reduction in Zones 1 (Empalme Granero and Ludueña) and 3 (Tablada and General Las Heras). Furthermore, a 57.14% decrease in intentional homicides in public spaces in Rosario was noted, with a 50% drop in zones 1 and 3.
As part of the Plan Bandera operations, more than 2 million pesos, 1,500 dollars, as well as numerous electronic devices, motorcycles, cars, and weapons were seized, thus consolidating the success of the actions undertaken to dismantle the activities of criminal gangs in the region.
When asked about the connection with the provincial governments and the joint work to be carried out, Bullrich was emphatic in stating: “We don't mix politics; we believe that the safety of Argentine citizens and the fight against organized crime are not political, not a matter of political conflict, and we have discussed this with President Milei.”
