Ok, I'll admit it, i'm old school... Making a tune today for me basically consists of much faster
easier ways to do all the things I loved doing back in the day, especially when it comes to the art of
sampling. I get huge amounts of joy from scanning through a long sample from a old jazz record or
something, maybe more often these days a lengthy melody loop from a sample pack, to find what
I've always called 'the best bit' and loop it for a nice sustained effect– Its something that used to take
ages when all you had was a Technics 1210, some records and the Akai sampler's data wheel.
In this video, I look at how we can recreate that cool, freeform looping effect using Ableton's
Sampler instrument, working with a nice Fender Rhodes sample, the sustain mode, loop region and
the crossfade options. If you've never used these functions before, It's something you can try out
quickly and easily, it'll hopefully give you some ideas of what to do with the samples you have in
your sample library and importantly, bring something new (or kinda old) into your productions.

Till next time, peace!
