A materialistic solution to the problem of universals
In the previous video ( • Проблема универсалий ), we touched on the problem of the "general." Now we will attempt to uncover the problem in its entirety and outline a solution within the framework of dialectical materialism. Traditionally, materialists of the past equated the immaterial with the ideal. As a result, they tended to address this issue from a nominalist perspective (usually moderate). It would seem that if the general is a concept, this seems quite materialistic. But is this true? With the advent of the correspondence theory of truth, the materialist understanding of knowledge came into conflict with moderate nominalism, according to which the individual, rather than the general, is reflected in each person's consciousness.
In this video, we will also briefly touch on how Soviet and Western philosophers addressed this problem, and finally, we will attempt to address it with the help of Aristotle and Averroes, but this time giving moderate realism a materialist justification.
