The Doors: Formed in Los Angeles (1965) with Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore. Named after Huxley's book, they were controversial counterculture icons of the 1960s. Released six acclaimed albums with Morrison before his 1971 death, including their self-titled debut, "Strange Days," and "L.A. Woman." By 1972, they had sold 4 million albums in the US. After Morrison's death, they continued briefly until 1973. With over 100 million records sold worldwide and eight consecutive gold LPs, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
