#offroadrecovery #accident #4x4
This video starts with one of the tightest recoveries I’ve ever done — but before we get there, we need to handle another callout first.
The day begins with a small fencing truck stuck deep in mud. I arrive on scene, unpack the recovery gear, and we carefully recover the vehicle. Even once back on the gravel road, the truck struggles to get moving, so we assist again — pulling it safely backwards until the driver, Fanie, can continue on his way. It’s his first time being recovered on camera, and the excitement says it all.
Then we rewind time.
What you’re about to see next is archived footage from an earlier recovery, filmed back in 2023 and recently rediscovered on our server. We didn’t have all the recovery gear we have today. But the situation — and the recovery — was simply too good not to share.
A Ford Ranger had gone into a deep roadside ditch and ended up completely sideways, with one entire side smashed into the wall. Space was almost non-existent. There was no room to reposition. And at the time, we didn’t even have a winch available.
The only option was to bring in a second vehicle as an anchor and recover the Ranger sideways, inch by inch, with absolute precision.
This is a real-world 4x4 recovery:
No shortcuts
No dramatization
No perfect conditions
Just problem-solving, teamwork, and doing the best with what we had.
