Myth, Tolkien, and Why You'll Never Look at Zelda the Same Way Again
The Legend of Zelda and Lord of the Rings have drawn comparisons since the first game in the Zelda franchise was released in 1986. As time has passed, the series has grown, it's lore expanded, where it has begun to take on a mythic role all its own. But Zelda and Lord of the Rings are not just similar in atmosphere. They both derive from a philosophy J.R.R. Tolkien first conceptualized in regards to fairy-stories.
