I recommend connecting a battery maintainer to your car during the update as it could be a real problem if the battery dies partway through. Could be as severe as ruining your head unit.
Use a new or fairly new reliable flash drive. The official instructions say to use a 2GB and nothing larger than a 4GB, I used an 8GB without an issue. Also, you do not need two separate flash drives, simply reformat before loading part 2 on.
