"An annual award donated by MTV to an individual or organisation that has worked to help mankind through its actions. In November 1994 Amnesty International was given this award, which Bono accepted on their behalf saying, "Free your mind and your ass will follow!". In 1999 Bono himself was given the award in recognition of his work on behalf of Jubilee 2000 and NetAid.
