HiRIC: New data from the Chinese satellite on 3I/ATLAS at Mars
The Chinese probe Tianwen-1 released a new image of the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS, recorded when it passed just 29 million kilometers from Mars.
The HiRIC camera aboard Tianwen-1 captured a diffuse, compact nucleus enveloped by a coma (the "cloud" of gas and dust around the comet) several thousand kilometers wide, confirming the object's extremely bright appearance—though without revealing well-defined jets.
