Here's a better fix that'll work for the majority of you.
The Green Screen preview error may happen because of a plugin called compoundplug in File/IO Plugin.

To fix:
1) Install QuickTime Player (I found out that this is OPTIONAL) (You don't need to download QuickTime for this fix to work):
https://www.apple.com/quicktime/
2) Reboot your computer
3) Manuever to C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 12.0\FileIO Plug-Ins
4) Change the folder, compoundplug, to compoundplugg
5) Try Sony Vegas and drop the mp4 and mov that didn't work
