Human Rights Day commemorated the sacrifices that accompanied the struggle for democracy in South Africa. The commemoration provides the country with an opportunity to stop and reflect on progresses made in the promotion and protection of human rights. Unlike the other years 2024 commemorates 30 years of democracy, for the DLT and Unisa this reflection takes place at a time when we are anticipating the next 150 years.
It is therefore important that we look at what the Higher Education transformation project has done in enhancing the human rights of South Africans, not only with regards to the politics of staff and student representation but in terms of epistemological and ontological underpinnings of knowledge and being.
