On October 4 Russian Ministry of Defense revealed that, the main purpose of the Space Forces is to;
Monitor the situation in space and identify threats to Russia from space and beyond, providing senior command with reliable information on the detection of ballistic missile launches and missile attack warnings, launching spacecraft, managing and maintaining military and dual-purpose satellite systems, including their launch systems, in readiness for use.
What is the primary task of the space forces?
According to Russia's MoD, the primary tasks of the Space Forces are “maintaining constant readiness to use missile attack warning systems, space control, the launch and management of spacecraft in Russia's orbital group, as well as mastering new weaponry and military equipment entering service in Space Forces units”

According to Russian Ministry of Defense, “Intensive work is being done to put into operation the latest models of weapons, military, and special equipment. The new generation "Voronezh" radar stations of the missile attack warning system, built with high factory readiness technology, are on combat duty. Work continues on the construction of new radar stations for the missile attack warning system in the Komi Republic and Murmansk region” MoD
