ChatGPT VS Bard Comparison. PART 1
For this video I will compare the free version of ChatGPT which is used by the majority of people.
First of all, they are built on top of different LLM’s. ChatGPT is running on GPT-3.5 and it has been trained on a dataset of 175 billion words. Bard is running on PaLM2, and it has been trained on a dataset of 1.56 trillion words. However, more dataset does not necessarily means better outputs. It is very important how these models are optimized.
Speed
ChatGPT will generate the answer in real time, and you can watch and read it along, and sometimes it can be very slow. Also if you are not happy with your reply you can re-type your prompt, or regenerate the reply, and wait again.
Bard, on the other hand, will take a few moments to think, then it will spit out the whole reply instantly. I also like the “Draft” option, which gives you 3 different replies generated at the same time, and you don’t have to re-generate another response and wait for it.
Access to web
ChatGPT doesn’t have web access by default. You can use Extensions for it, However they will not perform complex tasks. Bard is connected to the internet. It also can analyze entire websites, and give you tips for improvements. And actually good ones.
Content Generation
ChatGPT is doing a better job at content generation and writing (business or creative), also it is better at answering questions and summarizing texts. Bard is better at accessing information (because it is connected to the internet).
Coding
Vast majority of users say ChatGPT is performing better at Code generation, Debugging, and Explaining code snippets. Please let me know in the comments your opinion.
Also Bard has two more small but important advantages over ChatGPT:
First one is the ability to export the answers straight in Docs or Gmail, and you understand my pain with ChatGPT…
Second, is Voice prompting which can sometimes be very helpful. However, there are many plugins to install this feature for ChatGPT.
In the end is the customer who wins. It all depends on your preferences and tasks you need to perform.
