SHOULD YOU USE THE PARA APP?! DoorDash Deactivation, Tip Transparency, and Hidden Tips
Recently, I have been hearing about this new app, called Para, and I started to do a little research myself to see if this app could help DoorDash drivers. After looking at a few different sources, I have come to a couple conclusions.
If you are a full time Dasher and rely on DoorDash for most or all of your income, I would recommend against using this app. Unfortunately, we have learned that DoorDash could deactivate Dashers for any reason, so we must be careful with how we navigate this situation. I have seen that the Para app would use third-party services to log in to their DoorDash account, which seems to be a violation against DoorDash's terms of service. If this app is directly in conflict with what DoorDash is attempting to accomplish with hiding tips from their independent contractors, it may not be a good idea to make yourself a target for deactivation.
However, if DoorDash is only a small part of your income and you could live with being deactivated from the platform, it's possible that the Para app could increase your earnings. The Para app is not guaranteed to increase your earnings and DoorDash might not appreciate your use of the app and could change the algorithm on you even if they do not deactivate Para app users initially. So before you download this app and start using it, you must think about what could happen to your account moving forward.
Tip transparency and hidden tips has become a big issue within the DoorDash community and many drivers are upset. However, this does not mean we should be making rash decisions that could potentially hurt our streams of income and risk not being able to pay our rent or buy groceries. Everyone must make the best business decision they can for themselves, but I am advising everyone to be very cautious about how they approach this situation.
As of publishing this video, I have not downloaded the Para app.
