My husband and I just got back from Positano and we had the most terrible experience with Villa Franca. The hotel was recommended to us by a friend, so we made no research and just booked a room. The first night we went out for dinner and when we got back to the room (room 25) around 9.30 pm, the dog was barking outside. It was so loud, so my husband went to the reception to ask for a solution. The manager told us it is neighbours dog, it stays outside all night, but the barking should stop soon. We trusted the manager and tried to get back to sleep. The dog never stopped barking. At 2 am., with no sleep at all, my husband made another attempt and called reception. They told us that they had complains before, the neighbour does nothing to help and there is nothing they can do about dog barking all night, but to move us to another room one floor up, which doesn't solve the noise issue. We have made a note that if there will be no solution, we will be checking out in the morning.
After sleepless night we realised the Hotel won't do anything to solve an issue and we can't have another 2 nights with no sleep and dog barking. I am 7 months pregnant and it is our last vacation before the baby arrives, so we were looking forward quiet nights listenning to the water, not a barking dog.
The next morning, the hotel manager was not only rude, he lied about the whole issue and refused to refund us the last two nights that we were not planning to spend in the hotel. We only spent 28 hours in Filla Franca and were charged for the whole stay.
When we got back to London, my husband made last attempt and emailed manager of the Hotel explaining the problem and asking for a refund for 2 nights that we never spent in the hotel. The staff of the hotel knew that there is a noise issue from the very beginning, but still provide their guests with no solution, knowing that in case of moving out they will charge for a full stay. Needless to say, the manager's respond was rude and untruthful.
I have recorded the noise on my phone with fully closed door and curtain and will be uploading it on varies websites. I really hope this review will help other guests not to be cought in the same situation.
We spent last 2 nights of our stay in Positano in hotel Sirenuse and were very happy with entire experience.
