How to Set Up an API in Janitor AI | EASY Setup 2025
In this video I show how to set up an API in Janitor AI so you can start chatting with your chosen model in 2025. This is the basic setup for any supported provider or custom OpenAI-style API.
What you’ll do in Janitor AI:
Open Settings or API Settings from the top menu
Choose your provider (or select Custom / OpenAI-compatible)
Paste your API key into the key field
Enter the model name exactly as your provider lists it
If using Custom, add the correct API base URL
Save settings and refresh the page before testing
Quick tips:
If you get “failed to fetch” or no replies, the model name or URL is usually wrong
If you get “unauthorised,” your key is invalid or expired
Close and reopen Janitor AI after saving to make sure settings apply
Start with default generation settings, then tweak temperature later if needed
By the end you’ll have your API connected and working inside Janitor AI with no extra steps.
